CTE team member working to help students during career day

All elementary students and seventh graders participated in the ACME Career Academy day during their special area class. The acronym ACME stands for Architecture, Construction, Mechatronics, and Engineering. During that time students were introduced to an ACME career associated with the academy. Students had a deep look into the maritime industry emphasizing Deckhand's career path.

Each of the three groups followed along with a slide presentation (Prek-2 "My Little Tugboat", 3rd-4th "Kids at Sea", and 5th -7th "All Hands on Deck") that provides information through a book or video about working on the river and opportunities surrounding the Maritime Industry. Following the presentation, students completed an activity to help solve a challenge while working on the river. With the Mississippi River being a part of the community, students were exposed to various modes of transportation they may see passing through the town focusing mainly on towboats and barges.
