Vicksburg Warren School District hosted school and district leaders from Mississippi and Arkansas on Wednesday, October 21, for 4DX Leadership Day, a full-day event built around The 4 Disciplines of Execution for Educators. The event was held at River City Early College in partnership with FranklinCovey Education.
VWSD was one of two districts in the country selected to host an event of this kind on the bookâs national tour, according to FranklinCovey. The other is Bethlehem Area School District in Pennsylvania. The tour includes 19 stops.
The day began with VWSD leaders sharing the districtâs work with attendees. Visitors then traveled to local schools for tours led by students. Students guided guests through their campuses, held discussions with the visiting educators, and shared information about Leader in Me and the districtâs Lighthouse schools.
Students also took part in a panel discussion with attendees at River City Early College.
Lynn Kosinski, co-author of The 4 Disciplines of Execution for Educators, delivered the keynote address. Three leadership sessions followed, focused on how schools and districts can apply the framework to their own goals. The book was written by Kosinski, Sean Covey, Betsy Wierda, and Maria Fleming.
VWSD is honored to have been able to host this event. Putting students at the center of the day reflects the districtâs focus on student voice and leadership. Through Leader in Me, students across VWSD are building the skills and confidence to lead, and the way they spoke with visiting educators showed it. The district thanks FranklinCovey Education, Lynn Kosinski, and the educators who traveled to Vicksburg to take part.
