Eagle Scouts

Vicksburg Warren School District

September 28, 2026

VICKSBURG, Miss. — The Vicksburg Warren School District Board of Trustees met September 24 for its monthly meeting, honoring two students for a rare scouting achievement and approving several campus improvement projects and policy updates.

CELEBRATING STUDENT EXCELLENCE

The meeting opened with recognition for two Warren Central High School students, Jacob Porter and Warren Green, who earned the rank of Eagle Scout over the summer. Porter, a senior, is a member of Troop 102. Green, a junior, is a member of Troop 7.

Board members noted that Eagle Scout is the highest rank in Scouting, earned by only about 5% of Scouts worldwide, and reflects years of work in leadership, community service, and character development.

CAMPUS PROJECTS AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS

The board approved Flagstar Construction as the winning bidder for the canopy project, which will add canopies and covered walkways at bus and car drop-off areas at Bovina, Beechwood, Redwood, South Park, Vicksburg Junior High, and Warrenton. The winning bid came in at $1,189,000. District officials said the project is expected to get underway in November, with paving and concrete work starting first. Because some of the canopies are custom made and built to order, they may not be installed until spring.

The board also approved M&P Design Group to design potential capital improvement projects at Bowmar, Dana Road/Vicksburg Intermediate, Sherman Avenue/Warren Central Intermediate, and Warrenton.

POLICY AND DISTRICT OPERATIONS

The board approved updates to the Athletics and Activities Handbook, including new language on flag football and CDL requirements for coaches who drive students to games.

Two board policies were also updated: Policy GCRAA (Fair Labor Standards) and Policy CNA (Access to Public Records).

Finally, the board adjusted its November and December meeting dates to November 19 and December 17.
