VICKSBURG, Miss. — ACT, Inc., the parent organization of the standardized college admissions test, has notified the Vicksburg Warren School District of a national scoring issue requiring scores to be temporarily removed and reissued for students who took the online ACT during school-day testing this spring.

The issue was identified at the national level, not at the district level. The Vicksburg Warren School District is sharing this information as it is received from ACT, Inc. and will continue to notify parents and students as updates become available.

ACT, Inc. released the following statement to school district test coordinators:

"Based on its continual evaluation of scores, ACT has informed us that it needs to reissue scores for students who took the ACT online during the school day this spring. If you are among those students, your current score will be removed from your MyACT account on Wednesday, May 13. When scores are available again (no later than June 2), your Composite score and section scores will remain the same OR go up slightly based on your individual performance. Your scores will NOT be lower than what was previously released. There is no action you need to take. ACT will post revised scores on MyACT and will be resending scores to your school. If you previously opted to send scores via ACT to a college, university, or scholarship-awarding organization, they, too, will be sent any updated scores."

Who Is Affected

The scoring issue affects students who took the ACT online during the school day this spring. That includes all sophomores who tested as part of district testing, all juniors who tested as part of state testing and other students who may have tested online during the school day this spring.

What This Means for Transcripts

The Vicksburg Warren School District includes ACT scores on student transcripts. As a result of the ACT, Inc. scoring issue, March and April ACT scores have been temporarily removed from transcripts for this school year. Once ACT, Inc. releases revised scores (no later than June 2) transcripts will be updated accordingly.

Key Reminders

Scores will not go down. They will only remain the same or increase. No action is required from students or families. Colleges, universities and scholarship organizations that previously received scores will automatically be sent any updated scores.

Additional updates will be shared as they are received from ACT, Inc.
