The Vicksburg Warren School District is informing its community of a recent security incident involving Canvas, the learning management system used across the district. The situation has been fully contained and the impact to our students and staff has been minimal.
Canvas's parent company, Instructure, identified unauthorized activity on the platform and took immediate steps to address it, including temporarily taking Canvas offline as a precaution. Working alongside an independent forensics partner, Instructure confirmed the incident was contained. There is no evidence that any student or staff account information was compromised. Canvas has since been fully restored and is available for use.
The security and privacy of students and staff remains a top priority for VWSD. The district is in ongoing communication with Instructure and is committed to keeping the community informed if the status changes.
