The Vicksburg Warren School District is proud to announce a historic achievement for our students and schools. For the first time, all three district spelling bee winners have advanced to the C Spire Foundation Mississippi Spelling Bee, which will be held in Columbus, Mississippi, on Friday, March 27 - Saturday, March 28, 2026. Following the VWSD District Spelling Bee on Friday, January 16, 2026, the three winners – Orlando Ratliff, Rohan Taylor, and Jonah Strange – advanced to the Semi-Final Competition. We are proud to share that all three young men have officially earned their place as state finalists. This milestone marks a significant moment for VWSD, highlighting the academic excellence, discipline, and dedication of our students. Their advancement reflects not only their individual commitment to achievement, but also the strong instructional support and encouragement provided by their schools and families.
The district extends special appreciation to school-level Spelling Bee Coordinators Samantha Ross and Jessica Sanders for their leadership and preparation of students throughout the competition process. We also recognize VWSD Spelling Bee Coordinator Dr. La’Tonya Jackson for her continued guidance and organization of the district competition.
These outstanding young men will represent VWSD on an even larger stage, and we are confident they will exemplify excellence, perseverance, and pride.
