VICKSBURG, Miss. — Vicksburg Warren School District students showcased academic excellence and poise during the 2026 District Spelling Bee, held today under the Office of Curriculum and Instruction and Technology Integration.
After several competitive rounds, three students emerged as the district’s top spellers. Orlando Ratliff, a seventh-grade student from Academy of Innovation, earned first place. Rohan Taylor, also a seventh grader from Academy of Innovation, placed second, while Jonah Strange, a sixth-grade student from Beechwood Elementary, finished third.
The top three spellers will advance to the spelling bee semifinal round in February, representing VWSD at the next level of competition.
District officials praised all students who participated, noting their preparation, confidence and commitment to academic achievement.
Students who competed in the 2026 VWSD District Spelling Bee include Ta’liyah Atlas, Leslie-Anna Chisholm, Laurissa Chisholm, Anatasia Colon, Tyliah Garrett, Emily Guin, Deaden Hardy, Michael Hearn, Marijane Hixson, Davis Holden, Avery Johnson, Peyton Johnson, A’Chrislyn Jones, James Kellum, Fletcher McInnis, Orlando Ratliff, Wesley Roach, Destiny Smith, Jaxon Smith, Jonah Strange, Rohan Taylor, Nicole Troyer, Darla Watt, Kameron White, Soren Wiedenfeld, Matthias Williams, Brysen Williams, Major Sims, Jaiya Williams and Jaycee James.
VWSD administrators extended appreciation to teachers, families and staff members who supported students throughout the spelling bee process and helped make the event a success.
The district congratulates all participants and wishes its top three spellers continued success as they prepare for the semifinal competition.
