LaShanda Williams has been named the new Girls Flag Football Coach at Vicksburg High School. A proud native of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Coach Williams is a graduate of Warren Central High School, where she distinguished herself as a two-sport All-Star in both softball and basketball.
Coach Williams continued her athletic career at Columbia State College in Tennessee, competing at the collegiate level in basketball. Following her collegiate career, she discovered a strong passion for flag football, a journey that has shaped her growth as both an athlete and coach. She currently competes as a Women’s Semi-Professional Tackle Football player with the Mississippi Lady Panthers and also served as the Panthers’ Flag Football Coach during the 2025 season.
In flag football, Coach Williams has competed at both regional and national levels, earning multiple championship titles. With the Mississippi Lady Panthers, she is a three-time All-Pro and serves as the team’s defensive captain. She has played linebacker since 2019 and was named Eastern Conference Playoff Defensive MVP. In 2024, she helped lead the Panthers to their first championship in the Women’s National Football Conference (WNFC).
With a diverse athletic background and extensive competitive experience, Coach Williams is eager to bring her leadership, discipline, and passion for the game to Vicksburg High School. After earning her bachelor’s degree, she made a deliberate decision to return to her hometown to invest in the continued growth and expansion of girls flag football. She is committed to motivating student-athletes while instilling values of teamwork, accountability, and resilience—positively impacting young women both on and off the field.

Vicksburg High School girls' flag football tryouts will be held at the VHS football field on the following dates:
Friday, Jan. 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Saturday, Jan. 11, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Participants must have an updated physical and an active DragonFly account. Registration packets may be picked up from Ms. S. Harris in Room 1204, Mrs. Tucker in Room 1707, or Mrs. Butler’s office.
