VICKSBURG, Miss.— The Vicksburg Warren School District is calling on families across its 17 campuses to participate in the “What Parents Want” survey—an effort aimed at uncovering parents’ top priorities, preferences, and expectations when it comes to school communication and engagement.

As part of a broader nationwide study, the survey gathers insights from thousands of parents across diverse demographics and school systems. The data will help school leaders better understand what families need and expect—offering actionable strategies to attract, engage, and retain families more effectively.

VWSD officials say the feedback will directly influence how the district aligns its communication practices, school culture, and decision-making strategies with the real-world needs of the community it serves.

“Strong school-home partnerships start with listening,” said VWSD Communications Director, Marcus James. “This survey gives us a clearer view into how our families want to be informed and supported, which in turn helps us serve students more effectively.”

The survey is open now and takes just a few minutes to complete. Responses will remain confidential and will be used to inform both district-level planning and school-based improvements.

By participating in the “What Parents Want” survey, VWSD joins a nationwide movement to ground school improvement in parent voice—ensuring that every child is supported by a responsive, inclusive, and informed learning environment.
