VICKSBURG, Miss. — Students and faculty members from Vicksburg High School, Warren Central High School, and River City Early College are participating in a three-day drone certification training session designed to prepare them for the Federal Aviation Administration’s Part 107 exam.
Held July 23–25 at MCITY on Washington Street, the training is being led by Mr. Azali Muhammad, director of agriculture and drone operations at Alcorn State University. This is the first time the university has delivered its FAA Part 107 training to high school students within the Vicksburg Warren School District.
The certification allows participants to legally operate drones for both educational and commercial use. The program is funded through the VWSD Department of Innovation and aligns with the district’s focus on providing students with hands-on, career-focused experiences in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The training emphasizes real-world application of drone technology and prepares students for emerging career opportunities in agriculture, media, surveying, public safety and more.
