VICKSBURG, Miss. – The Vicksburg Warren School District officially kicked off preparations for the 2025–2026 academic year with Day 1 of its annual Administrators' Retreat, held Thursday, July 17, at Warren Central High School and Warren Central Junior High.
The day began with a district-wide ride aboard VWSD’s new electric buses, symbolizing the district’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. Upon arrival at Warren Central High School, attendees were welcomed with a light breakfast and opening remarks from Dr. Denotris Jackson of the Mississippi School Board Association. Jackson’s address emphasized the importance of visionary leadership and strategic partnerships in today’s educational landscape.
Following the keynote, administrators received updates from the Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Department of Innovation (DOI) teams during a joint presentation that highlighted workforce readiness and instructional alignment.
The retreat then shifted to Warren Central Junior High, where the discussion focused on reinforcing core district principles and setting a unified tone for the year. Presentations from various directors followed, covering updates and goals from Special Education, Maintenance, Communications, Technology, and Transportation departments.
The retreat’s first day concluded at 3:30 p.m. with administrators aligned around the district’s shared vision: delivering high-quality education through operational excellence and cohesive leadership.
