VICKSBURG, Miss. — Mississippi students have earned statewide bragging rights after claiming the 2026 Peach–Magnolia State Showdown Championship in the annual Math Nation Test Yourself Challenge, defeating Georgia with a final score of 68–62.

Among the schools recognized for outstanding achievement was Vicksburg-Warren School District’s Warren Central High School, which was named the West/Delta Region winner for excellence in student participation and academic performance.

The statewide competition challenged students across Mississippi and Georgia to strengthen math skills through consistent engagement and performance in Math Nation activities. Awards were determined using a combination of participation rates and overall student achievement averages.

According to the Math Nation Team, Warren Central High School demonstrated “outstanding commitment” by balancing strong participation with high-quality student outcomes throughout the challenge.

“This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and school leaders,” said district representatives. “We are proud to see Warren Central recognized among the top-performing schools in Mississippi.”

The competition also recognized Northwest Middle School in the Rankin County School District as the Statewide Grand Champion for combining exceptional student engagement with strong academic performance.

Other regional winners included Kosciusko High School in the North Region and Ocean Springs Middle School in the South/Coast Region.

Math Nation officials noted that this year’s challenge was highly competitive, with several schools separated by only hundredths and thousandths in the final scoring metrics.

The organization is also finalizing additional recognitions, including Teacher Spotlight Honorees and Student Award Winners, which will be announced at a later date.
