On Monday, Nov 11,2023 the CAB and HHS Academies collaborated during the last 9 weeks to present a Mental Health Awareness presentation for our parents, students and community leaders during the Vicksburg Jr. Varsity game against Warren Central.
The guest speaker was Mr. DaShawn Wess, who is a Public Health Educator with Delta Health Alliance. He spoke briefly to us about Mental Health Awareness. Mr. Wess' passion is to educate communities about health-related topics in aims to reduce health differences and disparities in all races. He has managed and participated in various events to raise awareness on public health issues. He is a member of many outreach groups such as The Black Men Health Equity Coalition, Protect Rural Healthcare Coalition, Mississippi Public health association, and he is heavily involved in civic engagements. Mr. Wess continues to travel throughout Mississippi with the motive to help people and make healthy lifestyle choices.
