Vicksburg, MS – River City Early College senior Kennedy Mullins has been named a semifinalist for the prestigious National Honor Society (NHS) Scholarship, standing out among nearly 16,000 applicants nationwide. The scholarship program, sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), honors students who demonstrate outstanding achievement in the four pillars of NHS: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Mullins, a dedicated NHS member and aspiring psychologist, plans to pursue a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. “The best thing about being a leader is helping others find their light and giving them a chance to shine,” she shared.
This year, the NHS is awarding $2 million in scholarships to 600 exceptional students across the country. Of these, one national winner will receive $25,000, while four others will each be awarded $10,625 for exemplifying one of the four core pillars. An additional 20 national finalists will receive $5,625, and 575 semifinalists, including Mullins, will each receive a $3,200 scholarship.
“Through exceptional service and unwavering academic drive, Kennedy exemplifies the very best of what the National Honor Society represents,” said NASSP CEO Ronn Nozoe. “Her commitment to academic excellence and community impact sets an inspiring example for her peers. We are proud to support her future endeavors and look forward to the positive change she will undoubtedly bring to our world.”
