Nondiscrimination Policy
POLICY OF NONDISCRIMINATION
The Vicksburg Warren School District Board of Trustees, Vicksburg, Mississippi, adheres to a policy of nondiscrimination in
educational programs/activities and employment, and strives affirmatively to provide equal opportunity for all as required by:
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, 42 U.S.C. & 2000d - prohibits discrimination on the basis of race,
color, religion, or national origin.
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, 42 U.S.C. & 2000e - prohibits discrimination in employment on the
basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin.
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, as amended, 20 U.S.C. & 1681 - prohibits discrimination on the basis of age
between 40 and 70.
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, 29 U.S.C. and 621 et. seq. prohibits discrimination against
the handicapped.
Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, as amended, 29 U.S.C. and 621 et. seq.
Americans with Disabilities Act, 42 U.S. C. & 1201 et. seq.
Additionally, the Board adheres to the concepts which ultimately were set forth in PL 93-380 - The Family Rights and
Privacy Act and IDEA - Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
SEXUAL HARASSMENT
In accordance with Title IX of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, as amended in 1972, Section 703, no person in the Vicksburg Warren
School District shall be subject to sexual harassment. It is the intent of the school district to maintain an environment
free from sexual harassment of any kind. Unwelcome sexual advance, requests for sexual favors and other verbal or physical
conduct of a sexual nature amounting to or constituting harassment are prohibited. Student-on-student harassment is also
prohibited. Legitimate allegations of violation of this policy may be made to the appropriate building Title IX contacts
or the district Title IX coordinator, without fear of reprisal. Employees/students in violation of this policy shall be
subject to disciplinary action.
